Intro

I have been a licensed mental health therapist for 20 years and a professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling for 22 years. I enjoy working with individuals facing challenges such as relationship issues, grief and loss, motivation, adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, stress, family concerns, chronic illness and pain, sexual abuse, medical trauma, and PTSD. Outside of work, I own three horses, two donkeys, and two Basset Hounds—my animals are truly my therapists.

How would you describe your approach to care?

I specialize in Gerontology and enjoy working with older adults facing challenges such as family issues, disability, cognitive decline, health concerns, independent living, Alzheimer’s disease, grief and loss, and end-of-life issues. My counseling approach is client-centered and existential, and I incorporate trauma-informed practices along with CBT, DBT, ACT, SFBT, and Somatic Experiencing.

What should be expected in the first session?

I bring genuineness, empathy, respect, and patience to every client I work with. I will always honor your life experiences and be fully present to support you through your pain. Together, we will work toward solutions that help you feel like yourself again. Healing can take place in our sessions as we find meaning in your suffering and discover new ways to enjoy life.
