Dr. Peter Sorman
Intro
I am a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of PTSD, traumatic brain injury, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, chronic illness, and chronic pain. I have been in private practice over 35 years, helping active duty military, veterans, first responders, and the general public receive the help they deserve. Having worked with these populations for 35 years, I understand the challenges coming forward to begin therapy. I treat chronic pain, PTSD, adjustment disorders, depression, relationship issues, and anxiety conditions. The clinical interview and goal setting serves as the foundation for our work in therapy.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to psychotherapy is eclectic. I draw from evidence-based treatments such as CBT, EMDR, exposure therapy, systematic desensitization, and traditional psychoanalytic approaches to fit your specific needs. I am direct, empathic, and goal oriented.
What should be expected in the first session?
Our first session is an intake reviewing your medical background, current challenges, past experiences with therapy, medications, and developing treatment goals together. We then discuss frequency of sessions to optimize your growth.
