Intro
I am passionate about connecting with others and supporting them through life and life transitions. I have always worked with older adults and continue to learn every day from the people I work with and their experiences. I’ve been in the field for 35 years, and just when I think I’ve “seen it all,” something or someone reminds me that I haven’t. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my husband, spending time with friends, listening to audiobooks while walking, and doing artsy, crafty projects in many forms.
How would you describe your approach to care?
I value getting to know each person and understanding what makes them “tick,” including their coping skills and existing supports. I aim to be supportive while encouraging clients to arrive at their own solutions with guidance and resources. I believe empowerment helps people recognize strengths they may not realize they have. I have extensive experience working with caregivers and individuals with chronic medical conditions, and I approach care with empathy, perspective, and thoughtful goal-setting.
What should be expected in the first session?
Our first session is about getting to know one another and setting realistic expectations, which I believe is critical to success in therapy. We’ll discuss what care looks like and what you’re hoping to gain from treatment. I strive to be both honest and supportive, and I believe the two can coexist. I am nonjudgmental and want you to feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. We’ll also talk about goals and next steps if you’d like to continue.
