Dr. Adam Smith
Intro
I am a licensed psychologist in Virginia and Tennessee with over 15 years of clinical experience. My work has focused largely on supporting people at two ends of the age spectrum, older adults and children. I help clients adjust and adapt during difficult seasons of life, especially times of transition, with a warm, collaborative, and client-centered approach. Common concerns I work with include anxiety and depression, trauma, relationship issues, self-esteem, and building greater compassion and confidence. I’m passionate about helping people improve their quality of life and feel better about who they are and the choices they make.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach is warm, collaborative, and personalized to each individual. I believe in building a trusting relationship where you feel safe exploring your thoughts and emotions openly. Through supportive conversations, we’ll navigate life’s transitions together and work toward more clarity, confidence, and resilience. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Together, we’ll focus on personal growth, emotional well-being, and a greater sense of fulfillment in daily life.
What should be expected in the first session?
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. This is a relaxed, supportive conversation, and there’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with. We’ll also go over how therapy works, what to expect moving forward, and start identifying goals that feel meaningful to you. My priority is to make sure you feel heard, respected, and at ease as we begin this work together at your own pace.
