Dr. Benaaz Russell
I am a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and Consultant with over 17 years of clinical experience. I have dedicated my practice to helping adolescents, adults, and older adults heal, recover, and create meaningful lives. I offer an integrative, evidence-based approach to addressing a wide range of mental health concerns, including eating disorders, body image struggles, trauma and PTSD, mood and anxiety disorders, grief, stress management, and navigating challenging life transitions.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to care is centered on providing a safe, compassionate, and therapeutic space where you can face your difficulties constructively and confidently. I believe that every individual’s journey is unique, which is why my approach is fundamentally integrative and highly individualized. My goal is to empower you to alleviate suffering, build courage and resilience, and ultimately discover the possibility of living a purposeful and authentic life.
What should be expected in the first session?
Starting therapy can feel both hopeful and a bit nerve-wracking. Most of our first session will focus on sharing your story and helping me understand the context of your life—at your pace and comfort level. We’ll also discuss the therapy process and what to expect moving forward. My priority is to listen without judgment, establish an effective treatment plan, and begin building the trust needed for genuine growth and healing.
