Dr. Mary Kemperman
Intro
My name is Mary Lynne Kemperman. I am a licensed clinical psychologist offering therapy in Virginia and Pennsylvania. I offer a consistent source of safety, insight, and encouragement to my clients. With patience and deep attunement, I guide clients through shadow integration, healing, and self-understanding, and help them stabilize and reshape their inner world. If you are overwhelmed by triggers from childhood trauma, if you need help finding emotional stability, or if you are ready to process past pain, let’s talk. I have a passion for helping individuals meet their goals, improve their quality of life, and feel better about who they are and the choices they make.
How would you describe your approach to care?
I use evidence-based approaches including CBT, EMDR, and IFS-informed parts work. Sessions are collaborative in nature. I also integrate mind-body practices when helpful, with attention to the nervous system and how stress and trauma can be held in the body. Through meaningful conversations, we will navigate life’s challenges and changes together, helping you gain clarity, confidence, and resilience.
What should be expected in the first session?
My style is warm and steady, with a direct and practical focus. Clients often describe me as supportive and encouraging, while also helping them look carefully at patterns beneath the surface. In our first session, I will spend time getting to know you and your concerns, work with you on ways to cope with immediate stressors, and then form a plan to address deeper shadow work. We will move at a pace that is comfortable for you. My priority is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and at ease as we begin this journey together.
