Robin Newell
Intro
I specialize in working with older clients who are feeling stuck and want to make changes in the areas of life where they are not happy. I completed an International Coach Training Program in 2017, which allows me to blend skills as both a therapist and certified professional coach. I consider myself a holistic provider who focuses on both the body and the mind, which I believe are key to sustained mental health and wellness. Many clients leave our work together with a greater feeling of clarity, which helps them move forward in their lives and take greater control where they have felt stuck. I am passionate about continuous learning and growth, and helping my clients do the same.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach is integrative and rooted in empathy, compassion, and building a trusting relationship where you feel safe to express your feelings. It would be a privilege to work with you on your life journey. If we decide to work together, I will listen intently to learn more about you, ask thoughtful and challenging questions, and provide support where it is needed. Together, we will outline the areas you would like to work on.
What should be expected in the first session?
The first session will be focused on getting to know you and learning more about what led you to seek counseling, your experience with previous counseling (if any), and your goals for our sessions. More simply, what would you like to gain from our time together that you don’t have right now? During the first session, I also like to spend some time talking about what therapy is and is not. I think of it as “taking a course in yourself”: a safe place to learn more about yourself, and to look at patterns and themes that continue to come up again and again that may not be serving you. My hope is that by the end of the first session, you leave feeling heard, seen, and at ease.
