Frequently asked questions
What does a Healthcare Advocate do?

Your advocate is your point person for everything around your health: finding doctors who take Medicare, booking appointments and rides, getting medical equipment, sorting out bills and benefits, and following up so nothing falls through. You reach them by phone, Zoom or text.
Is this covered by Medicare?

Yes. Sailor Health advocacy is covered by Medicare, and most patients pay $0. Your care navigator confirms your coverage on your first call.
Can you help me get a power scooter or wheelchair?

Yes. Medicare Part B can cover power scooters, wheelchairs and other medical equipment when a doctor says you need it. Some items need an in-person visit and approval first. Your advocate checks your coverage, works with your doctor and a Medicare-approved supplier, and handles the paperwork.
Will I pay anything for medical equipment?

It depends on your plan. With Original Medicare, you usually pay 20% of the approved amount after the Part B deductible, and many supplemental and Medicare Advantage plans cover more. Your advocate checks before anything is ordered.
Who can use Sailor advocacy?

People with Medicare who live with at least one ongoing health condition. Your care navigator will talk it through with you on the first call.
Do I have to change my doctors?

No. Your advocate works alongside the doctors you already see.
How do you keep my information private?

We use secure, HIPAA-compliant tools for every call, message and record, and we only share information with your permission.
