Have something to ask
Frequently asked questions
Is this covered by Medicare?

Yes. This program is covered under your Medicare benefits, and most patients pay little to nothing out of pocket depending on their specific plan. Your care team will always let you know ahead of time if any cost applies to you.
Do I have to use a computer? I'd rather just call.

Not at all — it's completely up to you how you want to be contacted. If you'd rather just talk on the phone, that's perfectly fine — your advocate will work with whatever's easiest for you.
How is this different from a hospital case manager?

A hospital case manager typically works with you only during a hospital stay or right after you're discharged. Your Sailor advocate is with you for the long haul — getting to know you and your health over time, checking in regularly, and helping you stay on track, not just during a crisis.
Is my information private?

Yes. Your health information is protected the same way it is with any of your doctors, under federal privacy law (HIPAA). Your advocate and care team only use your information to help coordinate your care.
What if I don't like my advocate?

That's completely okay — just let us know. We want you to feel comfortable and supported, so we'll help match you with a different advocate who's a better fit.
Can I meet my advocate in person?

Your advocate works with you via telehealth, which lets them check in more often and more flexibly than in-person visits would allow. While visits are usually remote, your advocate works closely with your doctor's office, so you're never navigating your care alone.
