Intro
Hi, you can call me Sarah. Originally from Canada, I've called Florida home for over twenty-four years and have been practicing social work for more than two decades. My passion for helping others began early in life, as I advocated for my mother through her mental health challenges — an experience that shaped my understanding of compassion, resilience, and the importance of truly being heard. Today, I focus on working with older adults navigating life transitions such as retirement, changes in health or independence, grief and loss, and feelings of loneliness and uncertainty. I understand that this stage of life can bring both challenges and opportunities for reflection, healing, and growth.
How would you describe your approach to care?
I believe therapy is a collaborative and respectful process. I provide a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can share your experiences at your own pace. My approach is active and practical and helps you clarify your goals, build coping skills, and find meaningful ways to move forward while honoring your life experiences. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from a variety of therapeutic methods to meet your individual needs. I'm known for being approachable, honest, and encouraging, with a down-to-earth style that sometimes includes gentle humor when appropriate.
What should be expected in the first session?
In your first session, we'll take time to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. I'll ask some questions to better understand your history, current concerns, and goals. We'll also discuss how I work and what you can expect from therapy. This is a relaxed, supportive conversation and there's no pressure, just a first step toward feeling better.
