Intro
Hi! My name is Angelica, and I'm honored that you are considering me to be your therapist! I have nearly 10 years of experience being a Social Worker across complex settings, including outpatient psychiatry at a hospital, a domestic violence shelter, and non-profit agencies. I specialize in working with people who struggle with intense emotions, and have a difficult time regulating those emotions.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My clients have told me that I speak to them like a friend who empowers them while also holding them accountable. I believe everyone is doing their best and they need to do better. Some sessions you'll laugh, some sessions you'll cry. Some sessions we'll have thought-provoking conversations, and some sessions we'll talk about your favorite television show. I believe that therapy is meant to fit into your life as you see fit!
What should be expected in the first session?
I think it's important that the first session be relaxed and stress-free! Starting therapy is a big step for most people, and it may feel weird talking to a stranger about your life. I'll start with gathering basic information about you and what brings you to therapy and then go into how I believe I can help you!
