Dr. Andrea Barragan
Intro
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and mental health counselor with extensive experience in psychological assessment, therapy, and court-related evaluations for adults and older adults. My work is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive care, with specialized expertise in domestic violence, psychosexual evaluations, substance use, addictions, and mood disorders. Fluent in Spanish, I am committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based services that support healing, resilience, and meaningful change across diverse populations.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to care is warm, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection, insight, and purposeful change. Drawing from Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existential Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I support clients in understanding their experiences, building resilience, and moving toward meaningful lives. I strive to create a safe, culturally responsive space where individuals feel seen, empowered, and supported as they navigate life's challenges and transitions.
What should be expected in the first session?
Your first therapy session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a safe, supportive, and welcoming space. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, any concerns you may have, and what you hope to gain from the process. You're also welcome to ask questions at any time. This first meeting is about helping you feel comfortable, heard, and understood as we begin working together toward healing and growth.
