Catherine Chovanes
Intro
My name is Caitie Chovanes. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. I have worked with older adults experiencing many different challenges, including traumatic brain injuries, cognitive decline, grief and loss, family tension, homelessness, substance use and addiction, trauma, and chronic depression and anxiety. I have the utmost respect for the older adult population and remain committed to sessions grounded in the dignity and worth of every individual. As J.R.R. Tolkien says, “Above all shadows rides the sun.” We will work to find that sunlight together.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My therapeutic technique involves engaging in conversation to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, offering new perspective and raising your awareness of why you may think and feel the way you do. I also aim to provide company and comfort on the path to restoration. When working with me, there is no “homework” or exercises that will make you uncomfortable. I cater to each person’s individual style and preferences to explore what will offer you relief. I am judgment-free and have a deep passion for helping people heal and feel better about themselves.
What should be expected in the first session?
In my first session, my main goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable. I don’t discuss anything you are not ready to talk about, and it’s important to build trust and rapport before diving deeper into conversations. I’ll review the guidelines of therapy, explore your goals, and answer any questions you may have.
