Intro
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in South Carolina with five years of experience in the field. Social work is my retirement career, following many years of working with the public in food services, advocacy, volunteerism, and connecting individuals with needed resources. I am grateful to now work in a profession driven by both joy and purpose, allowing me to support others with compassion, empathy, and a deep commitment to improving quality of life.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to counseling is rooted in respect, compassion, and collaboration. I honor each client's life experiences, values, and wisdom while recognizing the unique challenges that can arise with aging, such as life transitions, grief and loss, changes in health, cognitive concerns, and shifts in identity or independence. I provide a supportive and safe space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to share their stories at their own pace. I use a strengths-based, person-centered approach that focuses on resilience, coping skills, and meaningful connections. Interventions are tailored to each individual's needs, abilities, and goals, with attention to cultural background, family dynamics, and support systems. My goal is to help older adults maintain emotional well-being, enhance quality of life, and foster a sense of purpose, dignity, and autonomy as they navigate this stage of life.
What should be expected in the first session?
Your first session is a time to get to know one another in a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space. We'll talk about what brought you to counseling, your goals, and any concerns you may have. You're encouraged to share at your own pace. We'll review confidentiality, discuss how therapy works, and begin creating a plan that feels comfortable, respectful, and tailored to your needs.
