Clarissa Johns-Varella
I am a licensed professional counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland and a proud graduate of Johns Hopkins University, where I earned my degree in Clinical Community Counseling. With a warm and authentic approach, I am dedicated to helping others find healing and balance. I am married with two adult children and enjoy spending time in nature, finding peace and renewal in the great outdoors.
How would you describe your approach to care?
As a clinician, I bring a warm, genuine, and caring presence that helps clients feel safe, understood, and empowered. My authentic approach encourages open conversation and personal growth in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. Clients often describe me as easy to talk to and deeply compassionate. I am dedicated to helping individuals heal, find balance, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence in their emotional and spiritual well-being.
What should be expected in the first session?
During our first session, I will warmly welcome you and set the tone by explaining confidentiality and sharing my counseling style and approach. We will review paperwork and informed consent, explore your presenting concerns, and I will listen deeply as we gather background information. Together, we will clarify your goals for therapy, summarize the key themes, and I may offer reflective questions or gentle homework journaling to support your progress between sessions.
