Dr. Christina Alexakos
Intro
Hi there, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Dr. Christina Alexakos, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with several years of experience working with older adults across a variety of settings, from independent living to memory care. I help clients navigate adjustment, life transitions, grief, loss, parenting challenges, stress, wellness, mindfulness, health concerns, pain management, attention difficulties, executive functioning challenges, self-esteem, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, anger management, personality disorders, and severe mental illness. I use evidence-based treatment approaches tailored to each individual’s unique needs, goals, and life circumstances.
How would you describe your approach to care?
I strive to provide a safe, supportive space where you can be yourself without fear of judgment or criticism. My approach is collaborative, engaging, and centered on exploring your story, strengths, challenges, values, and relationships with warmth, validation, honesty, and, when appropriate, a sense of humor. I believe this process of self-discovery creates the foundation for meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to help you recognize your strengths and build on your ability to become the best version of yourself so you can live a fulfilling and meaningful life.
What should be expected in the first session?
In the first session, you will be provided a safe, supportive, validating environment where you can speak freely without fear of criticism or judgment. I'll ask thoughtful questions to understand what you're experiencing, what improvements would you like to see, and what is getting in the way. Together, we'll explore your emotions, thoughts, patterns, and strengths, and build tools that help you navigate your life with more clarity and confidence. Together, we will establish goals and what paths we can take together to achieve these goals.
