Intro

I saw my first client in 1985. The privilege of that trust is still an honor to me. I have been fortunate to work in a variety of settings and have found each position has given me unique insight and compassion for others. I have worked at hospitals, universities, a federal prison, and a military base. I have worked with all kinds of people as well. With each encounter, I seek to learn from every person and to understand with compassion and encouragement.

How would you describe your approach to care?

I love this work and feel grateful when someone trusts me to help. Warmth, caring, and empathy are key qualities that one should expect from their therapist. Therapy may be difficult sometimes and sometimes it is enjoyable. It is a cooperative work between client and psychologist. I ask that you bring your authentic and whole self to each session. I will work diligently to help you experience hope, healing and growth.

What should be expected in the first session?

First sessions can be scary — to talk to someone you do not know about things that make you uncomfortable, sad, angry, or hurt — but I would like to reassure you that this process is here to help you grow. I will maintain a warm and judgment-free space, a space that is challenging but comforting as we work together to find healing and peace.
