Dr. Deborah Alexander
Intro
Hi, my name is Dr. Debbie Alexander, and I am a California-licensed clinical psychologist who treats chronic pain and chronic illness, with a specialty in Parkinson’s disease, as well as anxiety, panic disorders, depression, trauma, PTSD, insomnia, grief, life transitions, and communication challenges. Managing grief over losses, including the loss of a partner, changes in your health, and the dreams of what you thought your life would look like at this stage, is an important part of aging. Finding the right tools to navigate these major life transitions is vital, and when you do, it can be a real game changer. A little bit about me: I am a wife, mother, and grandmother of three gorgeous grandchildren, as well as the loving owner of two rescue pups. I have learned so much from my education, but I have also learned so much about relationships and communication simply by having a big family. I invite you to include me in your own journey.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to therapy begins with building a trusting relationship where you feel safe, supported, and comfortable talking about life’s challenges. I see therapy as a journey we take together, working side by side toward greater healing, health, and well-being. I believe one of the most powerful parts of healing is feeling truly seen, heard, and understood with compassion. You don’t have to face life’s struggles alone, and together we can work through pain, trauma, and life’s challenges with hope and care.
What should be expected in the first session?
During our first session, there’s no pressure to commit to ongoing therapy. Think of it as an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I’ll take the time to listen carefully to your story, learn about your goals, and explain how I can support you. Together, we’ll decide whether we’re a good fit. If you feel comfortable moving forward, we can schedule a follow-up session. Finding the right therapist is an important decision, and I want you to feel confident, comfortable, and supported from the very beginning.
