Dr. Jon Freda
I am a clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience. I have worked in undergraduate and graduate university teaching, outpatient and adult individual therapy, and geriatric psychotherapy in assisted living and nursing homes. I have conducted executive and behavioral coaching for Fortune 100 companies, acting coaching for entertainment professionals, and psychotherapy for military veterans, having served as a Navy officer myself.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-commitment, existential, and mindfulness techniques. I use improvisational techniques to help clients explore choices from the themes that arise in therapy sessions to enhance their well-being. Progress is tracked through agreed-upon goals and actions.
What should be expected in the first session?
A sharing of information to allow the client to know me and for me to know them. We will discuss expectations such as confidentiality and its limits, my approach to their concerns, and whether we are a good fit for each other. There is no rush, but rather a collaborative approach to help them define their goals and how to proceed from here.
