Dr. Laurel Brundage
Intro
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience, including six years working exclusively with nursing home residents. I have helped older adults cope with loss, loneliness, serious health problems, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and stress. I feel honored when people allow me to support their growth as they face challenges and make difficult changes.
How would you describe your approach to care?
The therapeutic relationship is the most important factor for success in psychotherapy, so I focus on establishing and maintaining a relationship grounded in trust and unconditional acceptance. I utilize therapeutic techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy to facilitate change, and I tailor treatment plans to each person’s individual needs.
What should be expected in the first session?
My primary goal for the first session is to begin establishing trust and fostering hope. We will talk about the main issues that brought you to therapy and your expectations. We will also discuss how therapy works, what to expect moving forward, and begin identifying goals that feel meaningful to you.
