Dr. Nathanael Mitchell
Intro
I am an experienced psychologist who enjoys effectively helping older adults improve their quality of life. I am highly collaborative, creative, warm, and flexible in using research-based methods to decrease suffering and improve overall satisfaction with life. Over the last 15+ years of being a psychologist, I have helped countless individuals cope with anxiety, depressed mood, caregiver stress, grief, loss, and other common issues experienced by older adults.
How would you describe your approach to care?
When working with clients, I focus on helping each person feel genuinely heard and understood. Together, we identify your strengths and values to create realistic goals that move your life in a direction you can feel proud of. I use evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques tailored to your unique needs so you can feel confident that the work you put into therapy leads to meaningful, lasting growth.
What should be expected in the first session?
During our first session, patients can expect to meet with someone who actively tries to understand their situation, without judgement. I will actively listen to your concerns, going at your pace. By the end of the first session I hope to be able to explain how working in psychotherapy with me can benefit your specific situation. Finally, I would help you set realistic initial goals for us to work on together and be sure to answer any questions you may have about therapy.
