Intro

My name is Dr. Sarah (Sally) Sharp, and I am a licensed psychologist and neuropsychologist with more than 8 years of experience helping individuals navigate life's challenges, improve emotional well-being, and better understand themselves. My educational background includes advanced training in neuroscience, clinical psychology, neuropsychology, and clinical psychopharmacology, allowing me to take a comprehensive approach to mental health care that considers both psychological and biological factors. I believe effective treatment begins with understanding each person's unique experiences, strengths, and goals. My approach is collaborative, practical, and evidence-based, focusing on helping individuals develop meaningful coping strategies, improve daily functioning, and create lasting positive change. I strive to provide a supportive, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard and understood. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply looking to improve your overall mental health, I look forward to working with you and helping you move toward the life you want to build.

How would you describe your approach to care?

My approach to care is collaborative, practical, and individualized. I believe that meaningful change occurs when treatment is tailored to each person's unique experiences, strengths, values, and goals. I work to create a supportive and respectful environment where clients feel comfortable discussing difficult topics, exploring challenges, and developing solutions that fit their lives. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress, relationship difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression, or behavioral concerns, and we develop strategies to improve coping, resilience, and overall functioning. I emphasize practical skills and measurable progress, helping clients translate insights gained during sessions into meaningful changes in their daily lives. I also recognize the important connection between physical health and emotional well-being. Factors such as sleep, chronic medical conditions, stress, pain, life transitions, and lifestyle habits can significantly influence mental health. By considering the whole person, I strive to help clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves, build on existing strengths, and achieve lasting improvements in their quality of life.

What should be expected in the first session?

During your first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to treatment. I will ask questions about your current concerns, symptoms, personal history, stressors and any previous experiences with counseling or mental health treatment. This information helps me develop a thorough understanding of your situation and identify the factors that may be contributing to your current challenges. The first appointment is also an opportunity for you to share your goals and what you hope to gain from therapy. We will work together to clarify your priorities and develop a plan that aligns with your needs. There is no pressure to discuss everything at once, and you are welcome to move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. By the end of the session, you can expect a clearer understanding of the treatment process, potential recommendations, and next steps in care. Most importantly, the first session is designed to begin building a collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, respected, and supported as we work toward your goals.
