Intro

Hi, my name is Elizabeth Moffett and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida, with over 20 years of experience. I earned my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida.  As a Trauma Therapist, I have been helping Older Adults navigate life  by addressing issues such as loneliness, isolation, anxiety, depression, grief & loss, sleep disturbance, life stage, fears (such as financial, the future, medical problems, etc.) and social/relationship issues, and more. I have earned certifications in EMDR, Brainspotting, and training through the Center for Deployment Psychology for Military and Civilian Behavioral Health Professionals.  With a heart of service, I have participated in a variety of volunteer and ministry work such as the Women’s Prison Ministry, nursing homes, homeless, and medical.

How would you describe your approach to care?

As a patient and empathetic therapist, we’ll work toward the body’s innate ability to heal itself. The evidence-based therapeutic modalities grounded in scientific research and clinical expertise I incorporate are Brainspotting/EMDR, Neuroplasticity Focused (Brain based therapy), Trauma Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused, Family Systems, Internal Family Systems (Inner Child), and Mindfulness-Based (MBCT). I teach grounding exercises such as meditation, diaphragmatic breathing, etc., that help clients calm their nervous system to emotionally regulate.

What should be expected in the first session?

The first priority is to help you feel at ease. I'll introduce myself, explain how therapy works, and welcome any questions you have about the process and how sessions will be structured. We'll also complete an assessment called a "biopsychosocial," which helps me get to know you and better understand what brought you to therapy. I'm there to guide the conversation, and you can share as little or as much as you'd like. From there, we'll work together to identify your goals for therapy, create an individualized treatment plan to help you reach them, and discuss evidence-based treatment modalities/approaches that may be a good fit. The foundation of successful therapy is based on the therapeutic relationship with the client. I provide a safe, judgment-free space with trust, respect and empathy. Starting therapy is an act of self-care and a step toward healing. I look forward to serving you and helping you heal.
