Elizabeth Tedeschi
Intro
Through my varied experience I have been able to witness firsthand-that even in the direst circumstances positive change is possible. I have 4+ years as an LPC and two decades of combined experience in the mental health and special needs sectors. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and have taken nurturing parent training. I have worked as a family preservation therapist and parent coach. I have also assisted individuals of all ages, couples, families and groups in the areas of: anger, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD, relationships, stress management, substance abuse and trauma. You can improve your quality of life. I am passionate about empowering others and would be delighted to assist you along your journey.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My philosophy is to provide you with patience; positivity and pragmatism while varying the therapeutic approach to fit your current needs. To foster motivation and facilitate insight, I utilize a combination of strength-based techniques. I also believe in the significance of incorporating your interests and creativity (e.g. art, music, theatre and humor) into sessions.
What should be expected in the first session?
Our first session is just getting to know you. We'll address your questions or concerns, take a little more history, and maybe stop for a few minutes for a "brain break" (i.e., a fun mindfulness activity) if needed. Toward the end of the first session, we'll discuss what you want from therapy. So, let's grab your metaphorical paintbrush or wand: If you could change one or two things right now for the better, what would your life look like? Don't worry if you draw a blank; I'm here to help. We can begin with an inventory of how you are functioning in the six main dimensions of wellness: spirituality, physical health, intellectual health, creativity, emotional health, and social support. These are the SPICES of our life!
