Gloria Cooper
Intro
Greetings! My name is Gloria Cooper, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. I also hold a Certification as an Early Childhood Intervention Therapist (ECIT). I have 15 years of experience providing individual and family therapy for children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of emotional, psychological, and social needs. My goal is to help clients be at their optimal through a variety of therapeutic techniques. My primary approach is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), a powerful technique that helps clients explore and eliminate negative thinking patterns that can worsen depression, anger, and anxiety. I also use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients explore inner conflicts that contribute to unhelpful thinking patterns. Together, these approaches help clients build the psychological tools and resources needed to overcome barriers and become their best selves.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My clients are able to speak freely and feel they are in a safe environment to be themselves. I believe this is the most important role of a good therapist. Throughout the therapeutic process, you will feel heard, validated, and not judged. You will be in a position to grow emotionally at your own pace, not mine. You and I will work together to help you achieve goals that are important to you.
What should be expected in the first session?
During our initial session, which will be more of a greet-and-meet and rapport-building process, you will help me get to know your needs, and we will establish therapeutic goals based on those needs.
