Kari Dunn
Intro
Hi! I am Kari, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the great state of Georgia, and I’ve been in practice here for 6 years. I’ve spent those years at a community service agency, treating a wide variety of diagnoses and working with all ages using a range of evidence-based modalities. I’m passionate about helping individuals meet their goals, improve their quality of life, and feel better about who they are and the choices they’re making day to day.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to care is very person-centered. I try to meet people where they are and walk the journey with them. I combine approaches as needed, which can include a variety of things—from CBT for depression, insomnia, or anxiety to DBT and CPT for trauma. I work to understand what the individual I’m working with is looking for, what they’ve tried already, and what the best path forward might be. I enjoy walking side by side with individuals to help them discover, heal, and move forward.
What should be expected in the first session?
In the first session, I like to focus on meeting you! I want to know who you are and where you are, both physically and mentally. I also tend to look at whole-health and wellness factors so I can better understand the best ways I can support you. I’ll ask some questions about treatment history, what the main concern is, what you’ve tried before, and what you want to try, so we can find a well-fitting plan for your journey toward healing.
