Lillianne McBeth
Intro
My name is Lillianne McBeth and I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Therapist for 22 years in South Carolina and North Carolina. I have experience working in a variety of settings (schools, hospitals) and with just about every age range, but I greatly enjoy working with seniors. Since 2013, I have been working in telehealth helping adults of all ages cope with mental health challenges, and I specialize in the area of trauma and PTSD (posttraumatic stress disorder). Additionally, I help people cope with adjustment challenges such as the death of a spouse, the loss of a loved one, moving to a new home or facility, and other such transitions. I truly enjoy working with seniors and helping them accomplish their goals while also giving space to explore their thoughts and feelings.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to care is very warm, relaxed, and inviting. I imagine what I would want in a therapist and in a therapy session, and I try my best to provide that. I am nonjudgmental and come to each session with an open ear to hear your story from your perspective. Through the psychodynamic process, you will hopefully gain new insights and, through CBT, learn new behaviors that will hopefully provide you with a meaningful experience. My goal is to create a space where you feel empowered to enact change in your life.
What should be expected in the first session?
In our first session, I will first and foremost take time to get to know you. To that end, my priority is that you feel comfortable in the session to share, and that you experience me as a compassionate listener. Beyond that, I usually inquire about what is drawing you to therapy at this time, and I leave time to give that discussion some depth. Hopefully in the first session we can also come up with a rough game plan for how we are going to work in future sessions and what we are going to focus on in a way that truly works for you as an individual.
