Intro
Hello, my name is Lori Matheson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan with 15 years of experience supporting clients through life's challenges. I have worked with adults across a variety of settings, helping clients manage anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, and emotional wellness. I am passionate about providing care and creating a supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to care is warm, compassionate and solution-focused. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and concerns. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify unhelpful patterns, develop practical coping strategies and achieve meaningful goals. I believe in meeting clients where they are, building on their strengths and working collaboratively to improve emotional well-being, resilience and overall quality of life.
What should be expected in the first session?
During your first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to counseling. I will ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, strengths and goals for therapy. This session is an opportunity for you to share at your own pace in a safe, supportive environment. Together, we will develop a plan that supports your emotional well-being and personal growth.
