Intro
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois with more than 15 years of experience helping older adults through life changes, health issues, and the emotional ups and downs of aging. My experience has been both in healthcare and community-based settings, especially with older adults facing depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, adjustment issues, and life transitions. What I enjoy most is building trust with clients who may initially feel hesitant about therapy and helping them feel emotionally supported as we build relationships. I work to bring warmth, respect, and cultural understanding to our work together. My training combines mental health counseling with spiritual care, so I understand how emotional, physical, and spiritual health are all connected.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to therapy starts with building trust. As you open up, I get to know your story, your feelings, and your needs, and I use this understanding to guide our work together. I also use practical tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques when they fit your goals. Therapy works best as a team effort, so I pay close attention to your life experiences, culture, and spiritual beliefs, since these shape how you work through challenging experiences. Through our work, I support you in building a stronger, more integrated sense of self as you identify and utilize the relationships, tools, and strategies that will support you in your life.
What should be expected in the first session?
Our first session together will focus on getting to know one another, understanding what brought you to therapy, and identifying the strengths that will support you throughout your therapy journey. I’ll ask questions about your history, health, family, and daily life so I can better understand the full picture of who you are. We’ll discuss what you’re hoping to accomplish, whether that’s managing a specific concern, adjusting to a life change, or simply having a supportive space to process your thoughts and experiences. I’ll also share a bit about my approach and answer any questions you have about the therapy process, confidentiality, or what working together may look like moving forward.
