Maria Walker
Intro
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed in GA, TX, MD, and NY, with over 30 years of experience in social work and more than 15 years as a clinical practitioner. I specialize in supporting older adults as they navigate life transitions, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem concerns. I'm passionate about helping individuals gain confidence, deepen self-compassion, and increase intentionality about choices that improve their well-being and overall quality of life.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach is client-centered, supportive, and collaborative, with an emphasis on building trust so you can safely express and explore your authentic self. We work as a team to understand your concerns and identify meaningful goals. I draw from MI, SFBT, and CBT to help shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, increase intentional and purposeful action, and strengthen your confidence in using effective coping tools.
What should be expected in the first session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. We'll discuss your goals, your concerns, and what you hope to gain from our work together. It's completely normal to feel nervous. We'll build this space gradually and at your pace. My role is to guide, support, and help you feel grounded as we begin this process together.
