Michelle McKinnie
Intro
Hi! I am Michelle and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. I have over 15 years of experience as a clinician. I love being a therapist and I enjoy walking alongside others and assisting as a team member on their life journey.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to care is holistic, and I believe in treating the whole person. This approach explores mind, body, and spirit. I focus on personalized care, prevention, and empowerment. My approach to care includes empathy, active listening, cultural competence, a strong ethical foundation, and acting as a collaborative guide rather than just an expert. I adapt my approach to meet the needs specific to the client, rather than using a one-size-fits-all method.
What should be expected in the first session?
The first session will feel different from future visits. This initial visit is a time for us to get acquainted and decide how to move forward together. In future sessions, the focus will be more specific as we explore symptoms, concerns, or past experiences discussed in our first meeting. I feel the first session sets the tone for the therapy experience. I believe patience, flexibility, and openness are key ingredients for creating a safe therapeutic environment.
