Intro
I have worked throughout my career providing evidence-based therapies to adult patients from various backgrounds, drawing from various theories including CBT, Family Systems, insight oriented and other approaches. My experience includes screening referrals, evaluating and expanding services, and seeing adult patients with a variety of mental health challenges. My recent work has focused on therapy and support within the aging and Veteran populations.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach to care is rooted in a collaborative, person-centered framework, utilizing integrative techniques tailored to each individual's unique needs. I focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance based on empathy, unconditional positive regard, and trust. By combining cognitive-behavioral strategies to address immediate thought patterns while considering underlying, long-standing issues, I help clients build resilience, self-awareness, and actionable coping skills. My goal is to foster a safe space for growth and empowerment.
What should be expected in the first session?
Your first session or the "getting to know" session is primarily an assessment to build rapport and discuss why you are seeking help. We will discuss your current challenges, personal history, and goals. I will review confidentiality while we discuss expectations, aiming to make you feel safe and understood. It is more about getting acquainted than deep diving or immediate solutions. It is normal to feel nervous or emotional, and provides mutual opportunity to consider whether we are a good fit.
